People usually have all preparations when they reach 55-60 days. Everyone must remember the following 6 points and prepare them as soon as possible before the female dog gives birth. Because at this time, the female dog may give birth at any time:

1. Prepare for delivery room.

Use large paper boxes, wooden boxes or loose doghouses as delivery rooms, with clean newspapers and towels inside, and place the delivery room in a quieter corner of the home.

2. Prepare for warmth after the fetus is born.

The newborn puppies have poor temperature regulation ability and are highly dependent on the external ambient temperature. Generally, puppies born in winter should have sufficient warming measures, such as heating lamps, radiators, etc. If it's summer, just prepare some dry towels.

3. Pay attention to cleaning and hygiene.

Before the female dog is about to give birth, the hair around the female dog's vagina can be cut short to prevent amniotic fluid from staining the hair during childbirth; then cut the hair around the nipples to facilitate the puppy to suck milk. At the same time, wipe your body with a warm towel every day, especially your vulva and breasts.

4. Preparation for midwifery.

Although female dogs usually deal with it themselves during childbirth, it is better to have a female dog who gives birth for the first time just in case. Prepare some disposable gloves, clean scissors, sterilized thin threads, alcohol (or vovodophos, potassium permanganate), and dry gauze. The purpose of preparing these is to help humanly when the female dog will not bite the umbilical cord after the fetus is born.

5. Food preparation.

Because the appetite of female dogs before delivery will decrease, it is best to prepare some delicious canned dogs, dog milk powder, and clean drinking water; in addition, it is best to prepare some special milk powder for puppies and matching bottles for puppies. (If you really can't find a dog's bottle, you can also use a syringe that removes the needle instead).

6. Contact the veterinarian.

Don't forget to contact a skilled veterinarian who can work at any time in advance to prevent difficult labor or signs of severe postpartum bleeding, you can seek medical treatment as soon as possible and take a timely operation.

Tips for midwifery for dogs:

1. Quickly tear open the puppy's membrane, wipe the mouth and nose with dry gauze, and wipe the amniotic fluid in the mouth to avoid choking the puppy;

2. Then tighten the thin line about one knuckle from the puppy's navel, and then cut the umbilical cord (that is, cut between the ligation line and the placenta);

3. Apply alcohol or iodine at the end. It is best to practice this step several times in mind to avoid making mistakes in a hurry.
