According to the "Daily Mail" report, Ziyech, who helped Chelsea win the Champions League championship, was hit again. Romanian club Cluj refused to sign with him.
The 32-year-old Ziyech once discussed joining Cluj as a free agent, but Cluj owner Ioan Varga revealed that he gave up on this plan. In an interview with Romanian media Prosport, Varga said: "Ziyech has a problem with his left knee and I learned about it. He is a very good person, but I will not take such a big risk for a player who may have health problems. He wants an annual salary of 2.5 million euros, and I am not willing to pay for a player who may have health problems." We cannot ensure that the players we use will pay the money. I hope he can stay healthy and find another team to play for. We will look for a healthy player who can help our players."
In the 2018-19 season, Ziyech helped Ajax reach the Champions League semi-finals and win the domestic double. In 2020, he joined Chelsea for a transfer fee of 37.8 million pounds. During his time at Chelsea, he played 107 times, scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists. Although he won the 2021 Champions League with the team, he did not appear in the final. He then scored for the Blues in the UEFA Super Cup the following season, but gradually lost his place at Stamford Bridge.
In recent years, Ziyech's career has suffered many setbacks. In January 2023, his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain failed due to delays in submitting documents; in the summer of the same year, his transfer to the Saudi team Riyadh Victory also fell through due to knee injuries (Ziyech disputed this). He then spent two years at Galatasaray, but his contract was eventually terminated. In May this year, his short stay with Qatari team Duhail came to an end after only four months.
