According to the Sun, former Manchester City player and current Ajax reserve coach Musampa was arrested on suspicion of tax fraud.

48-year-old Musampa was a star player at Manchester City. He went to Manchester City on loan from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City between 2004 and 2006, and made a total of 41 appearances. The left-wing player scored goals against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough. In 2006, he transferred to the Turkish team Trabzon Sports.

Musampa has played for the Dutch national team 43 times and won the Champions League and two Eredivisie titles in Ajax. Currently, he is an assistant coach for the Ajax reserve team.

Dutch police reportedly arrested Musampa on Tuesday. During the search of his residence, police seized some documents and luxury watches, and Musampa's accountant was also detained. Musampa was released Wednesday afternoon.

Dutch Financial Information and Investigation Bureau FIOD accused Musampa of working in the Netherlands and earning income, claiming that he was a tax resident abroad and suspected of defrauding the government of more than 100,000 euros. According to Dutch media reports, Musampa has been facing tax problems for many years and recently a property in Amsterdam was taken back. A spokesman for Ajax said: "We are aware of the arrest of Musangpa, but we think it is too early to respond in detail to the matter." Musangpa's career spans six countries. In addition to England, he has also played for clubs in France, Turkey and South Korea, and finally retired in 2009 for Dutch team William II.
