Manchester City officially released a new away jersey for the 2025/26 season. This season's away jersey is inspired by the older generation of Manchester City fans. Through a new interpretation, the club's innate innovative spirit is demonstrated. The overall pure black design idea comes from the club's earliest known jerseys, paired with metal texture details, showing Manchester City's long-lasting classic heritage.

The earliest known jerseys in Manchester City date back to 1884, when the club was located in the Gorton area of Manchester. This new away jersey not only represents Manchester City's historical heritage, but also rejuvenates through a new elegant design, paying tribute to Manchester City's origin.

This design cleverly blends classic and modern: the stylish pure black color scheme draws inspiration from the historical jerseys, paired with a traditional collar with white piping. The metal-textured club badges and silver details contrast sharply against the black background, creating a stunning visual effect and creating a unique away jersey. Marco Mueller, senior director of PUMA team sports product line, said: "It is a special honor for us to reinterpret Manchester City's earliest known jersey. Perhaps many people don't know that black was the original color scheme of the club. We hope to celebrate the unique culture and identity of each club through this jersey.

The ability to launch a fully hacked jersey is full of freshness for us, and it also gives us the opportunity to make a new attempt in the creation of away jerseys. It is worth mentioning that this is also the first time that PUMA has taken a complete promotional video with all black and white images, which is highly consistent with the design concept of this jersey."

City Football Group Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer of Group, said: "We are very pleased to release the away jersey of this season to fans for the first time, commemorating the club's classic jerseys in the early years in Gorton. The eye-catching all-black color scheme revives the traditional jerseys with a simple and neat contemporary perspective.

Our fans have always had deep feelings for those jerseys that pay tribute to the club's history, and this jersey is a response to this emotion. It boldly interprets who we are, and we hope it will soon become a new love for the enthusiastic fan community."

Manchester football historian Dr Gary James Commented: "It is very gratifying to see Manchester City once again refer to the earliest known jersey elements in the club's history in the new away jerseys for the 2025/26 season. The pure black color scheme is a respectful greeting for Manchester City's early years and an important symbol of the club's origin story. Being able to reproduce in this modern way also reminds us all of us about Manchester City's journey along the way."

The new away jersey will make its debut in the pre-season friendly match against Palermo on August 9.
