Western Digital recently announced the official opening of its expanded System Integration and Test (SIT) laboratory, located in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. The 25,600-square-foot state-of-the-art facility is designed to help customers accelerate value creation and rapidly deploy maximum storage density.

Weiteng Electronics stated that as AI applications drive unprecedented storage needs, the new laboratory focuses on responding to customers' core needs and conducting faster and more predictable verification of the company's high-capacity HDDs. In addition to supporting R&D and global operations, the mini data center environment built in this facility can also conduct real-world application testing and verification, ensuring that customers can immediately obtain advanced storage solutions when they need them.

SIT Lab serves as a large-scale exclusive collaboration base. The engineering team will work closely with key customers across every stage of the product life cycle, from development, verification, mass production to product line termination.

Ahmed Shihab, Chief Product Officer of Witten Electronics, said that the AI revolution has clearly revealed that storage is the cornerstone of the AI data-driven economy, and HDD is the core pillar of it. Nearly 80% of cloud data is stored on HDD, which is critical for data collection, preparation, storage and long-term access.

Shihab believes that HDD makes the AI era possible by providing the best scale storage economics. "Our customers not only need reliable storage, but also a trustworthy partner who can innovate side by side with them. This laboratory confirms Vita Electronics' commitment to customers, working together to develop key technologies to drive AI and cloud infrastructure from today to the future."

Weiteng Electronics’ global SIT laboratory network covers the United States and Asia, with locations close to major customers and serving more than 2,000 customer systems.
