A dog has diarrhea but is in good spirits. Many people don’t know the reason. In fact, it may be caused by accidentally swallowing a foreign body, causing scratches in the gastrointestinal tract and causing bleeding. It is recommended that the owner take the dog to a pet hospital for a X-ray examination and then remove the foreign body. Secondly, it may also be caused by parasite infection, such as hookworm, trichomoniasis and other parasites, which need to be dewormed in time. In addition, it is also necessary to consider whether it is caused by viruses. For example, parvovirus, canine distemper, and coronavirus may all cause intestinal diseases in dogs. In the early stages of the virus, because the virus has not completely broken out, the dog may be in good spirits.
1. Swallowing foreign bodies
If a dog accidentally eats sharp objects, such as chicken and duck bones, fish bones, needles, plastics, etc., it will cause bleeding after piercing the intestines. It may also be accompanied by symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, listlessness, and painful moaning. In this regard, it is recommended that the owner take the dog to the pet hospital for a X-ray examination to check the location and shape of the foreign body. If necessary, it can be removed through surgery.
3. Infection with parasites
If the owner has not dewormed the dog for a long time, and the dog is infected with parasites such as coccidia and trichomonas, the mechanical activity of a large number of parasites in the intestines will destroy the intestinal mucosa, causing bleeding and even soft stools or mucus. In this regard, owners should pay attention to observation. If there is mucus, they need to take the dog to the pet hospital for a fecal examination to see if there are parasites, and then choose appropriate anthelmintic drugs to deworm.
3. Infection with infectious diseases
If the puppy has not been fully vaccinated or has not been tested for antibodies after vaccination, the owner also needs to be wary of infectious diseases such as parvovirus, canine distemper, and coronavirus. Because in the early stages of the disease, the dog may not show obvious symptoms of lethargy, but once the spirit suddenly becomes worse, the disease may have progressed to a more serious stage. Therefore, it is recommended that owners take their dogs to the pet hospital for investigation of infectious diseases for early detection and early treatment.
