In an interview with BBC Sports, former Manchester City defender Richards expressed his views on Nottingham Forest's decision to sack head coach Postkoglu.
What do you think of Postkoglu’s dismissal?
This is inevitable, but I don't think it's correct. He was only given eight games and the huge contrast in styles was always going to be an issue.
Can you talk about this "style contrast" in detail?
The Forest team has changed from a coach who is best at counterattacking to a coach who wants to play more expansion. This will never be an immediate result. If you really chose Aobo, how could he change the team's style of play in such a short period of time?
What other problems do you think there are with Postkoglu’s coaching?
Postkoglu is a good coach, but his fiery comments in the media may not have helped him. He looked like he might have been the right fit, but needed more time.
What situation does the Forest team face now?
The interesting point is, will the next head coach be a short-term or a long-term one? What kind of team do Forest want to be? Was last season's success just a blip? I know Tottenham finished fifth in Aberdeen's first season, but if you look at Aberdeen's record last season, Forest should never have appointed him in the first place. Maybe they need to aim higher and find a coach whose style truly matches their expectations. Now the club may have gone into panic mode to avoid relegation.
Ditch is rumored to be a potential replacement. Do you think he is suitable?
If they do end up choosing Dyche, he has always said he wants to have a talented group of players to work with, and he has that at Forest.
