
Semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries announced that it has reached an agreement with Apple, a technology manufacturer, recently, and the two parties will further deepen their cooperation partnerships. The purpose of this project jointly develops semiconductor technology and significantly strengthens the US's local semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
According to the agreement, Grofonte will accelerate its key investment in its Martta semiconductor wafer factory in New York, which will help enhance the innovation and production of the United States in high-efficiency and support for artificial intelligence (AI) chip manufacturing technology, which are important for the future development of mobile computing and smart devices.
Grolfonde executive Tim Breen said that the cooperation is an important milestone for both parties to reach a decade of partnership. The two companies will continue to collaborate on the production of key wireless connection technology and power management solutions, which are the core components of the next-generation AI driver devices. Grofonte announced in June 2025 that it will work with major technical partners to invest $16 billion to expand its semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging business in New York and Vermont.
Apple manager Sabih Khan pointed out that through Apple's American Manufacturing Program, the company is fortunate to cooperate with companies such as Grolfant to create more employment opportunities and bring manufacturing back to the United States. He further revealed that the cooperation is part of Apple's commitment to the US $600 billion investment in the next four years and expresses high expectations for the innovative prospects of the United States.
